Basket Weave Scarf – Free Crochet Pattern

The basket weave stitch looked intimidating to me for the longest time! I thought I would keep playing with other stitches to warm up for this one. Turns out, it’s much easier than it looks!! I have to admit, it felt odd at first. Doing a double crochet in front or behind a post instead of under a stitch was new to me, but I was on a roll after a couple rows!

I highly recommend using the Lion Brand Mandala yarn for this pattern! The yarn weight paired with the size I hook creates a cozy, sturdy, yet flowy feel to the scarf. And you really can’t beat their colorways! So far I have made this scarf in ‘Genie’ and ‘Spirit’ and can’t wait to try out others!

All in all I would consider this an Advanced Beginner friendly pattern. But surely any level crocheter can learn! I did my best to photograph the steps to create this unique looking scarf. If you have questions please comment below or email me and I will get back to you as soon as I’m able!
