Crochet Ramble On

Current WIP: Ice Cream Kimono

When I first started this blog I loved making smaller items that worked up quick. Now I seem to be interested in creating larger pieces that complete an outfit (I.e. most recently The Taylor Vest)! This past weekend I finished a vest for my Mama and allowed myself to purchase some new yarn I’ve been gawking at for a while now..

Lion Brands Ice Cream yarn! Specifically the ‘Big Scoop‘ skein that is 10oz and sold at my neighborhood Michael’s for around $9!! I chose the color Cookies N Creme because of the neutral colorway.

Here’s the skinny on the Big Scoop:

Weight: Light (3)

 Contents: 100% acrylic

Skein Weight: 10 oz. / 284 g

Yardage: 1117 yd. / 1022 m

Knitting Gauge:

22 sts – 30 rows = 4″ (10 cm)

Crochet Gauge:

16 sc – 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm)

Suggested Knitting Needle:

3.75 mm, US – 5

Suggested Crochet Hook:

5 mm, US – H/8

Lion Brand suggests that this yarn is perfect for baby blankets and other projects for children and I totally agree! With skeins named Tutti Frutti and Cotton Candy, how could you go wrong! BUT I have chosen this yarn for more of a big girl project, so to speak.

If everything goes according to plan I hope to turn this gorgeous skein of yarn (or two) into a kimono!šŸ‘˜

Here are some photos of my current work in progress!

(After folding this panel I thought, wow this would make a super cozy baby blanket! So if you were on the fence about using this for your next baby project, I say go for it!)

Or grab a skein and hang out for this pattern to be released! šŸ™‚
