The Samantha Pouch – Photo Tutorial

I originally came up with this pouch as a gift for my best friend Samantha (I called her Sammy) and thought it was too cute not to share! This whimsical style pouch could be used to hold makeup, pens/pencils, tissues, checkbooks (does anyone carry these anymore??) or other feminine products (if ya know what I mean)!

Supplies:

Yarn: Loops & Threads Capri Weight: 4

Hook size: H

Button

Stitch Markers

Scissors

Darning Needle

Back Panel:

Ch 30 plus 1, SC in the second chain from the hook, SC across (30st)

Ch 2, turn, HDC across *Repeat for 12 rows

Slip stitch, tie off

Front Panels (make 2):

Ch 30 plus 1, SC in the second chain from the hook, SC across (30st)

Ch 2, turn, HDC across *Repeat for 6 rows

Slip stitch, tie off

(Note: To add depth to the pouch, add more rows to the front panels!)

Using stitch markers, lay front two panels on top of the back panel, over lapping one front panel over the other. Clip together with stitch markers.

Border:

Attach yarn to top right corner, SC across

Once you reach a corner, SC, CH 1, SC, continue to SC along the side, bottom and opposite side

Picot Border:

Picot Stitch: Ch 3, insert hook into first chain, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through both loops, SC into next stitch

SC in next 2 stitches, then repeat the Picot stitch (Ch 3, insert hook into first chain, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through both loops, SC into next stitch) *Repeat around the entire border. Slip stitch and tie off.

Attach yarn to top flap, SC across

Turn your work, and SC into the flap underneath

Find the middle point of your pouch and chain as many as you need to fit your button (this button was large so I chained 8, skipped 4 stitches, slip stitch and tie off)

Attach your button
